COURSE- Supervisors Took Kit: The first 30 Days to Front Line Supervision- (5 Hours)

LESSON:This course is intended to assist first time supervisors.

The course is designed to assist newly appointed frontline supervisors within their first 30 days on the job.This course takes into account that a staff person has been promoted from the ranks of their peers or if they were hired in from another organization/department into the supervisory position.This course is not intended to substitute the 40-hour training designated by the state of California but could be used as an initial substitute until the class is scheduled or immediately following attendance of the aforementioned course.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this training, the student will be able to:

  • Identify and recognize the key areas that will have immediate impact in the position.
  • Reduce the frustration of being overwhelmed in such a short amount of time.
  • Assist the student into getting off to a successful start.
  • Assist the student in establishing a harmonic working environment.
  • Assist the student in establishing effective communication.
  • How to organize important and critical documents in a meaningful manner.
  • How to schedule effective meaningful meetings to reduce confusion around annual reviews or probationary periods.
  • How to properly create a cross training environment.
  • How to identify the strengths and weaknesses of every subordinate team member.

Jenny Jones

Jenny Jones is a graduate professor, author, facilitator, lecturer, but most important a leader. He has taught for more than 12 years at the community college, undergraduate, and graduate levels of education. He has been in the capacity of leadership in some fashion for nearly three decades. He is a graduate of "Leadership Stockton", a program where the top 5% of Stockton's future leaders are interviewed, screened and selected to go through a vigorous leadership training program. Some of his lectures have taken place in companies such as AT&T, National Eligibility Workers Association, Lodi Break Through Organization, Alpha Phi Alpha Inc., and Kaiser Permanente. He has written several articles for Yahoo Finance and has authored two books. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, and traveling with his two sons and lovely wife of 23 years.
